一類為溫度補(bǔ)償類NPO電介質(zhì)這種電容器電氣性能最穩(wěn)定，基本上不隨溫度、電壓、時(shí)間的改變，屬超穩(wěn)定型、低損耗電容材料類型，適用在對(duì)穩(wěn)定性、可靠性要求較高的高頻、特高頻、甚高頻電路中。
二類為高介電常數(shù)類X7R電介質(zhì)由于X7R是一種強(qiáng)電介質(zhì)，因而能制造出容量比NPO 介質(zhì)更大的電容器。這種電容器性能較穩(wěn)定，隨溫度、電壓時(shí)間的改變，其特有的性能變化并不顯著，屬穩(wěn)定電容材料類型，使用在隔直、耦合、傍路、濾波電路及可靠性要求較高的中高頻電路中。
三類為半導(dǎo)體類Y5V電介質(zhì)這種電容器具有較高的介電常數(shù)，常用于生產(chǎn)比容較大、標(biāo)稱容量較高的大容量電容器產(chǎn)品。但其容量穩(wěn)定性較X7R差，容量、損耗對(duì)溫度、電壓等測(cè)試條件較敏感，主要用在電子整機(jī)中的振蕩、耦合、濾波及旁路電路中。
獨(dú)石電容比一般瓷介電容器大（10pF~10μF），且電容量大、體積小、可靠性高、電容量穩(wěn)定，耐高溫，絕緣性好，成本低等優(yōu)點(diǎn)，因而得到廣泛的應(yīng)用。獨(dú)石電容器不僅可替代云母電容器和紙介電容器，還取代了某些鉭電容器，廣泛應(yīng)用在小型和超小型電子設(shè)備(如液晶手表和微型儀器)中。
