However, linking the bypass to tubes of 6.0mm or 12.0mm in diameter can cause
turbulences which result in measurement errors. These errors are suppressed by
increasing the upstream reference length to approximately 6 times the tube diameter, e.g.,
140.0mm (see Fig. 5). Further recommendations regarding installation practices are given,
e.g., in: R.W. Miller, Flow Measurement Engineering Handbook, “McGraw Hill, New York,
3rd. ed., 1996. Additionally, sealing the threads with PTFE tape in order to prevent leakage
is highly recommended.

Installing the Software und Start-Up
After having installed the ASP1400 hardware, complete the following steps to install the
FlowViewer V1.2
(1) software for Windows 95/98/NT on your PC:
_ Insert the CD with the FlowViewer V1.2 software for Windows 95/98/NT.
_ Open the file "DISKS", double-click "SETUP.EXE" and follow the instructions of
the installation wizard.
_ Double-click the "FlowViewer_ASF1400_V1.2" link on your desktop to start the
application.
_ Note: If no units are displayed in the program it may be possible your decimal
symbol in the "Regional Setting Properties" is wrong.

Software Overview FlowViewer
In order to operate the ASP1400, dedicated software is provided with your evaluation kit.
Although the software allows plug-and-play, some additional remarks will be given.
