Corning Cable Systems Universal Build-Out Optical
Attenuators are designed to interconnect single-mode
connectors with or without attenuation. Offered in FC,
LC, SC, or ST
Compatible styles, these attenuators are
available in 0-16, 18 and 20 dB levels. The unique
design allows for easy change-out of attenuation values
with no tools required. The 0 dB offering is very useful
for connections where no attenuation is required. Each
build-out attenuator requires the use of a build-out block
(sold separately) that replaces the standard adapter.
The SC build-out block has molded latches for snap
mounting into SC panels. The ST
compatible build-out
block is equipped with a lock washer and circular nut for
mounting into ST compatible bulkhead adapter panels.
universal build-out attenuators meet dual-wavelength
requirements for insertion loss at 1310 and 1550 nm
while achieving reflectance performance of ≤ -40 db for
single-mode applications and attenuation tolerances of
± 15 percent of nominal attenuation.
