The
BCM97014
Advanced 2D/3D Graphics and Video
Platform represents video/graphics functionality needed in
advanced set-top box applications. This PCI-based card can be
used for development and demonstration of applications
targeted for advanced set-top boxes. In this environment, the
application developers can use common industry-standard
hardware and software tools for both software development and
hardware integration.
The
BCM97014
Platform is designed around Broadcom’s Video
and Graphics chipset, the BCM7010 Set-Top Box Decoder and
the BCM7014 Advanced 2D/3D TV Graphics System. The
BCM7010 consists of a MPEG-2 Transport demux/decoder, a
MPEG-2 Video Decoder, and an AC3 Dobly Digital Decoder
with R/L channel output DAC’s. The BCM7014 consists of an
advanced 2D graphics compositor, programmable 3D graphics
accelerator, PCM audio engine, analog TV digitizer/decoder,
NTSC/PAL encoder, PCM audio engine, and CPU SDRAM
control bridge functionality.
The
BCM97014
Advanced 2D/3D Graphics and Video Platform
allows for MPEG Transport streams to be input via the DVB-PI
(Parallel Interface) for decoding via the BCM7010. The
BCM7014 analog video digitizer/decoder is connected to an
external baseband video input jack for connection to an external
NTSC source. The
BCM97014
provides both baseband NTSC
and S-Video outputs, and stereo audio output to an external TV
display monitor and speakers.
The BCM97014 Advanced 2D/3D Graphics and Video Platform,
with the combination of the BCM7010 and the BCM7014, can
be used for demonstration of the advanced technology
developed by Broadcom for use in next-generation set-top
boxes. In addition, the
BCM97014
PCI-based platform can be
used by set-top box developers for system development and
application/content developers to develop future applications
targeted at advanced set-top boxes.
