18. The optical link that is supported by the transceiver is 9.5dB. The supported optical link is calculated
from the following equation: OL = PF - RSENSITIVITY – PPEOL; where OL is the optical link supported, PF
is the minimum coupled average optical power, RSENSITIVITY is the maximum average receiver sen-
sitivity, and PPEOL is the end-of-life power penalty. The relevant values for these transceivers are PF =
-4.5dBm, RSENSITIVITY = -15.0dBm, and PPEOL = -1.0dB. PPER, the Extinction Ratio (ER) power penalty, is
not included at the link level, as receive sensitivity testing will be performed with guard-bands based on
the ER of the source used during test.
