APPENDIX C. APPLICATION FAMILY IDENTIFIER (AFI) CODING
AFI (Application Family Identifier) represents the
type of application targeted by the VCD and is
used to extract from all the LRI64 present only the
LRI64 meeting the required application criteria.
It is programmed by the LRI64 issuer (the pur-
chaser of the LRI64). Once locked, it can not be
modified.
The most significant nibble of AFI is used to code
one specific or all application families, as defined
in
Table 20.
The least significant nibble of AFI is used to code
one specific or all application sub-families. Sub-
family codes different from 0 are proprietary.
