Call Progress Tone Generation
(continued)
Example:
To generate dial tone (350 Hz at a level of –13 dBm and 440 Hz at a level of –13 dBm) for time slot 2, the host
would write the following*:
I
0x0080 to address 0x05EF
I
0x005A to address 0x05F0
I
0x09C9 to address 0x05F1
I
0x0071 to address 0x05F2
I
0x09C9 to address 0x05F3
I
0x1000 to address 0x0081
To terminate CPT generation and start RX path inactive routine for time slot 2, the host would write 0x0690 at
address 0x0081.
Once the RX path routine is set to tone generation, the algorithm begins transmitting two summed sine waves.
Transmission continues until the host changes RX routine address.
To generate just one frequency, the host sets second magnitude to 0 and second delta to 0.
CPT generation routine can be active together with TX path inactive or TX path active routine or DTMF detection.
CPT generation shares memory with caller ID generator. Therefore, caller ID generation routines should be fin-
ished prior to configuring the RX ac routine control word for CPT generation.
Note that the receive relative gain block (Figure 2) is in the path of the generated tone. Compensate magnitude
settings accordingly.
*
Output frequencies are 351 Hz and 441 Hz (Telcordia). Offset errors are 0.29% and 0.22%. If a different frequency for dial tone is used, the
dial-tone filter coefficients required of the DTMF detector should be modified. Contact your Lucent Account Representative for additional set-
tings.
