DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE
m
PD78P078Y AND MASK ROM VERSIONS
The
m
PD78P078Y is a single-chip microcontroller with an on-chip one-time PROM or with an on-chip EPROM which
has program write, erasure and rewrite capability.
It is possible to make all the functions, except for PROM specification and mask option of the P60 to P63 and P90
to P93 pins, the same as those of the mask ROM versions by setting the memory size switching register (IMS) and
internal expanded RAM size switching register (IXS).

PD78074BY, 78075BY,
78076Y, 78078Y) are shown in Table 1-1.

The internal PROM becomes 60 Kbytes and the internal high-speed RAM becomes 1024 bytes by RESET
input.

The internal expansion RAM becomes 1024 bytes by RESET input.
Caution There are differences in noise immunity and noise radiation between the PROM and mask ROM
versions. When pre-producing an application set with the PROM version and then mass-producing
it with the mask ROM version, be sure to conduct sufficient evaluations for the set using consumer
samples (not engineering samples) of the mask ROM version.
