1. The MASKoutput may beused todisconnect thewhole speech circuit in order tomaintain thebreak conditionwhilst on-hook, during
a TBR (TimedFlash) operation or for LD dialling.
2. The MUTE output is provided to disable the microphone while maintaining theloop condition during DTMF transmission.
KEYPAD OPERATION
Thedevicewill acceptkeypadinputsonly in the’off-
hook’ condition when the key is pressed for more
than 14ms. Any key pressed during the ’on-hook’
conditionwill beignoredand theoscillatorinhibited.
This ensuresthat the current drain ’on-hook’is low
and used only for memory retention.

KEYPAD LD/DTMF MODE CHANGE
If the initialdialling mode is LD, pressing eitherthe
* or #key will cause all subsequentlyentereddigits
to be dialledin DTMF. The firstpress of either * or
# will not cause a digitto be dialled, but oncein MF
mode,pressing*or#will causetheappropriatetone
pair to be transmitted.
If theTBR (Timed Flash) keyispressed,oranEarth
LoopRecalloperationissignalledtothechip,further
dialling is set to theinitial mode.
