TAPE-BASED TAD CONTROLLER WITH DTMF REMOTE CONTROL
Tape positioning and Tape-End detection circuit
Preliminary
The function of tape position sensor circuit is to detect motion of the deck reel and therefore the motion of the
tape. The EM93610 uses the input from the phototransistor to keep track of current position of the tape. When
tape is in a forward movement, the software increases the counter by one for each transition
( H
L or L
H ) of the photo transistor input, and counts down by one for each transition while tape is in a
back-ward revolution. Sixteen bits of RAM are maintained to account for current tape position.
The tape position sensor also serves as a Tape End condition detector. When the photo transistor input does not
change for 0.75 second, the EM93610 assumes the tape is in a STOP condition which means either the tape ends
( either end ) are reached or the tape is stuck.
The tape position sensor is composed of photo reflector and reflective plate on the reel that consists of 4
reflective portions and 4 non-reflective portion, used as an index of tape position.
The infrared LED of the photo-reflector emits light of wavelength 940 nm constantly. When phototransistor
received the light reflected by the reflective portion of the plate, phototransistor is turned on and sends a low
signal to the pin PHODET of the Em93610. When the non-reflective portion of the wheel is shined by the
LED, no or little light is reflected back to the phototransistor, so it is off. The CPU will then receive a high
signal. While the reel is turning, the CPU will receive a train of high/low signal until end of tape is reached
tape is stuck or the deck is stop.
The Edge detector and Schmitt Trigger circuit internal to the EN93610 will filter out the noise and speed up
the slow transition speed of Photo reflector. The PHODET pin is INT1 input of the EM93610 to facilitate
tape-positioning function.
Function Description
In case of power failure, all recorded messages (OGM1, OGM2, Memo and ICMs) will remain on the micro
cassette message tape. All essential system information will be saved on the message tape.
Power up reset
When the power is turned on. A long beep will be generated, deck initialize operation and resistor-option
setup. The speaker volume will be set to the medium level.
Press and hole the
“ ERS. ”
button during power up, 2-beep tone will be generated to indicate. the OGM, all
messages and its marker on tape are all erased.
Press and hold the
“ MEMO ”
and
“ OGM ”
button while power up can enter the testing mode. 4-beeps will
be generated to indicate the success of entry.
If OGM1 has been recorded and no key is pressed, the unit will enter answer on ( record ICMs ) state.
Recording an OGM ( Out-Going Message )
It’s important to have the OGM1 recorded. Otherwise the answering machine will not answer any incoming
call.
If the 7-segment LED display shows
“ P ”
and
“ F ”
alternatively and the dot LED display blinking at 1 sec
“ON” and 5 sec “OFF” to indicate. That indicates no OGM ( Out-Going Message ) has been recorded.
The newly recorded OGM1 or OGM2 will no erase the micro-cassette tape for All messages ( memos and
ICMs ).
Recording last 5 seconds, The dot LED will flashing ( 2Hz ) to indicate.
If recording message less 3 seconds, The machine automatically recording ( blank ) to 3 seconds of full.
