Abstract Device
Applications Binary Interface
A unit as seen by a programmer through a peripheral library service. The
service provides an interface which hides details of the hardware unit.
Application Program Interface. The entire set of facilities (function
parameters, return values, predefined data structures, etc.) as seen by
the writer of the application program.
The customer-created software which characterizes the application. The
application program makes use of the peripheral library through the API.
Character Generator Random Access Memory in the LCD_A. CGRAM
has user-programmable character bitmaps which can be selected for
display.
Character Generator Read Only Memory in the LCD_A. CGROM has
built-in character bitmaps available for selection and display via
references from DDRAM.

Display Data Random Access Memory in the LCD_A. DDRAM stores
display data represented in 8-bit character codes.
A data structure containing the base address(es) of the hardware
registers of a unit that underlies an instance of the abstract device being
serviced, plus the state variables of that device (e.g., status flags, I/O
buffers or pointers to them).
For level 1 service: the base address of the hardware registers of the unit
being serviced.
For level 2 service: the address of a device descriptor describing the
instance of the abstract device being serviced.
Hardware interrupt vector function that determines the interrupt source
and calls appropriate user-developed ISF (same as ISR).
External Interrupts/General-Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) Module
Electrically Erasable (Programmable) ROM. ROM which is erasable and
rewriteable by on-chip circuitry a byte or word at a time, and perhaps also
by group of bytes (“row”) or in its entirety (“array”). The write cycle is
orders of magnitude slower than the read cycle and can be performed a
limited number of times during the lifetime of the device.
