1 Overview of I/O Ports
The I/O ports can be used as three (22 pins in MB89190 series and 20 pins in
MB89190A series) output ports or general-purpose I/O ports (parallel I/O ports).
Each port also serves as a resource (I/O pins for various resources).
T Function of I/O ports
The I/O ports output data from the CPU to the I/O pins using the port data register (PDR) and send
signals input to the I/O pins to the CPU. Also, the I/O direction of the I/O pins of some ports can be set
freely bit-by-bit using the port direction register (DDR). The following shows the function of each port and
the resource that it also serves as:
Port 0: General-purpose I/O port, and resource (external interrupt 2 pin and analog input pin)
Port 3: General-purpose I/O port, and resource (serial I/O pin, external interrupt 1 pin, and
timer/buzzer pin)
Port 4: Dedicated output port/resource (analog input pin and analog power pin)
Table 4-1a lists the function of each port, and Table 4-1b lists the register for each port.
