ST63E69,T69EPROM/OTPDESCRIPTION.
The ST63E69 is the EPROM version of the
ST6369 ROM product.Itis intended foruse during
the developmentofan application,and for pre-pro-
duction
and
small
volume
ST63T69 OTP has the same characteristics. They
both include EPROMmemory instead ofthe ROM
memory of the ST6369, and so the program and
constantsof the programcan beeasily modifiedby
the user with the ST63E69 EPROM programming
board fromSGS-THOMSON.
The Table 3 is a summary of the EPROM/ROM
map andits reserved area.
Fromauserpoint ofview(withthe following excep-
tions) the ST63E69,T69 productshave exactlythe
same softwareand hardwarefeatures of theROM
version. An additional mode is used to configure
the part forprogramming of theEPROM, this is set
by a +12.5V voltage appliedto the TEST/V
PP
pin.
The programming of the ST63E69,T69 is de-
scribed in the User Manual of the EPROM Pro-
gramming board.
On theST63E69, all the 7948 bytesof PROGRAM
memory are available for the user, as all the
EPROMmemory canbe erasedby exposuretoUV
light. On the ST63T69 (OTP device) a reserved
area for test purposes exists, as for the ST6369
ROM device.In orderto avoidanydiscrepancybe-
tween program functionality when using the
EPROM,OTP and ROM it is recommended not to
use these reserved areas, even when using the
ST63E69.
production.

EPROM ERASING
The EPROM of the windowed package of the
ST63E69 may be erased byexposure to Ultra Vio-
let light.
The erasure characteristic of the
EPROM is such that erasure begins when the
memory is exposed to light with wave lengths
shorter than approximately 4000. It should be
noted that sunlight and some types of fluorescent
lamps havewavelengths inthe range3000-4000.
It is thus recommended that the window of the
ST63E69 package be covered by anopaquelabel
to prevent unintentional erasure problems when
testing the applicationin such an environment.
The recommended erasure procedure of the
ST63E69 EPROM is exposureto short waveultra-
violet light which has wavelength 2537. The inte-
grated dose (i.e. UV intensityx exposure time) for
erasure should be a minimum of 15 W-sec/cm
2
.
The erasure time with thisdosageis approximately
15 to 20 minutes using an ultraviolet lamp with
12000
μ
W/cm
2
power rating.The ST63E69 should
be placed within 2.5 cm (1 inch) of the lamp tubes
during erasure.
