Architectural Overview
The guard interval and mode interaction cannot be used for acquisition;
it assists the receiver in handling a reconguration of the transmission.
2.11 Mode Control Logic
If previously stored mode data are available, use them when selecting a
channel or when the signal strength rises after a period of signal loss.
This is done by an external microprocessor and makes acquisition faster.
When mode control logic receives an error-free TPS block, mode data
from that TPS block replaces any previously determined mode data if
AUTO_MODE_ENABLE is on. If AUTO_MODE_ENABLE is off, the
external microcontroller activates the change.
In this context, the mode data comprise:
2-K or 8-K mode
Length of the guard interval
Modulation system
Hierarchy information
Inner code rate
The mode control logic congures all the demodulator blocks whose
operation is affected by these parameters.
2.12 Common Phase-Error (CPE) Correction
The common phase-error (CPE) correction block removes the common-
phase error. After determining the CPE, it subtracts the CPE from the
phase of all the data cells in the same symbol. This block receives data
from the FFT block, corrects the data for the effects of phase noise, and
passes the data on to the channel equalization block.
